This is such an easy, no fuss way to give RV camping a try. There is no driving an RV, no struggles in getting the sewer/electric/water hooked up. You just show up at your reserved campsite and these trailer rental companies will have the rental trailer of your choice all set up and ready to enjoy. First time? You get an introduction to the trailer upon delivery to get up to speed on all the functions and features.
Besides being the perfect choice to give RV camping a try locally, this idea would also work great if you wanted to fly somewhere and experience camping. There are hundreds of trailer delivery services out there, and you will find them in almost any locale. There are many benefits to choosing trailer delivery such as:
-You don’t need to be “picked up” at the airport; you just rent a car.
– Drive a rental car to the area attractions versus disconnecting your services and driving a bulky rental RV (not to mention using your precious daily miles).
– Unlike rental RV companies, most trailer rentals do come equipped with basic kitchen and other essentials.
– No worries about set-up or break-down of your campsite – trailer delivery companies do that for you.
– Great way to combine camping and hotel stays during your vacation to suit your needs.
So you are interested? What should you do next? The first step is to decide where you would like to have your RV Adventure. Next, make a reservation with a campground. Keep in mind that popular State Park campgrounds book on average, six months in advance through the website www.reserveamerica.com.
What company should you choose? I have selected three great trailer rental companies that service different Southern California locales to get you started.
Luv 2 Camp services Southern California locales including Glamis and other sand dune locations, San Diego County, Temecula area, and Orange County. Additionally, they also offer their services at Pismo Beach, San Simeon/Morro Bay, Paso Robles, and the Oregon Coast!
Luv 2 Camp holds an exclusive contract for Orange County State Parks such as San Clemente State Beach, Doheny State Beach, Bolsa Chica State Beach and others. They also are one of the concessionaires that can deliver to San Diego State Beaches such as San Elijo, South Carlsbad, and Silver Strand.
Luv 2 Camp includes the cost of delivery and set-up in their prices. Their fleet of trailers come with place settings for 6 (or 8 people based on size of trailer), utensils, pots/pans, cutting board, coffee maker, paper towels, toilet paper, can opener, broom, and more. TV/DVD, awning and generators (for dry camping) are available at certain locations.
Kathy Hatala, mother of 3, shared with me her experience with Luv 2 Camp this year in Glamis. “We loved using Luv 2 Camp! We just showed up with our stuff and got to enjoy camping right away. Everyday that we were there, a person from Luv 2 Camp stopped by to check our propane and batteries and to make sure everything was working properly. At the end of our vacation, we gave the trailer a quick clean and we were headed home. It was a truly convenient and worry free family vacation.”
Each location that Luv 2 Camp services offers a choice of different size trailers that can sleep up to 8 people. To give you an idea of pricing, a 3-night stay in Orange County (not including campsite reservation) ranges from $429 to $643 based on size of trailer selected and season. And for the pet owners out there, you can bring your dog! They do require a 2-night minimum most weekends and 3-night minimum for holidays. This seems to be the industry standard.
Camp ‘n Style services San Diego and Imperial Counties. This is the company to choose if you are heading to Campland on the Bay or Mission Bay RV Park in San Diego. They also deliver to Glamis and other sand dune locations. They will deliver all over San Diego County so check if you are looking at another campground in the area.
Camp ‘n Style trailers include: RV/DVD Player, plate setting for 6, pots/pans, coffee pot/cups, spatula/tongs, can opener, dish soap, paper towels, RV toilet paper, cleaning supplies, trash bags and matches. Generators are standard on all trailers, however, usage of them would be needed only at dry camping locations.
Camp ‘n Style offers both traditional trailers and toy haulers that can sleep 4 to 9 people based on size selected. This company updates interiors of their fleet once a year to ensure maximum comfort. Camp ‘n Style offers free delivery to Campland on the Bay and Mission Bay RV Park, however, there is a delivery charge for sand dune locations (from $95 to $150 based on location).
Pricing for a 2-night stay at Campland on the Bay (not including campsite reservation) ranges from $394 to $548 based on size of trailer and season. For Glamis, a 2-night stay ranges from $378 to $550 plus delivery charge. Camp ‘n Style also allows pets and require a 2-night/3 night holiday minimum .
If you are heading north, give Camping Adventures a call. This family owned business delivers primarily to Ventura County but also hold a concessionaires license to deliver to the very-popular Leo Carillo (awesome place to camp) and Point Mugu State Parks in Malibu. Other campgrounds you can use them for would be the Lake Casitas Recreation Area, Ventura Beach RV Resort, and Ventura Ranch KOA (great family spot). Contact them directly for any other Ventura County campground delivery.
Camping Adventures trailers include: TV/DVD Player, coffee maker, pot/pan/strainer, wine opener, tongs, large knife, paper towels, RV toilet paper and broom/dustpan. With Camping Adventures, you will need to provide your own plates/cups/utensils/etc. I recommend paper and disposable products, especially for shorter trips.
Camping Adventures offers 2010 or newer trailers with slides that can sleep 4-8 people based on size. Prices include delivery and sales tax.
Pricing for a 2-night stay at Ventura Ranch KOA ranges from $350 to $430 based on size of trailer selected. Contact them directly for seasonal pricing for more information. For State Park camping, the price does include use of a generator and ranges from $450-$525. Camping Adventures allows 2 dog maximum and requires a 2-night minimum and 3 to 4 night minimum for holidays.
