Amicalola Falls is the tallest waterfall in the Southeast. Water cascades down 729 feet to the bottom of the falls where visitors get a magnificent view. There are other ways to see the falls including an accessible pathway (great for strollers), Falls Overlook or do a complete circuitous hike from the Visitors Center to see the many facets of the falls. There is a Visitor Center that offers maps, live animals, Appalachian Trail display and a gift shop. There is a mountain-top lodge which is home to Maple Restaurant, offering fantastic views and meals including a Sunday brunch buffet.
Campground:
There are 24 wooded campsites accommodating RV’s. At the top of a 25% incline, you will find each site is an easy pull-in or back-in site with water, power, grill and fire ring. There is a comfort station laundry facilities, restrooms and clean showers.
Cabins:
Choose from 14 cabins available in two locations: Wooded Mountain Top or Creek Side Below the Falls. Cabins are equipped with a full kitchen, heating and air conditioning, decks, fireplaces and satellite TV, and are available in 1, 2, or 3 bedroom arrangements. There are two pet-friendly cabins available.
NOTE: Check in services for campsites, cabins and picnic shelters are located at the Lodge AND the road to the campground is on a 25% incline.

Bodensee Restaurant is perfect for a quick delicious lunch or a relaxing dinner with the family. Located in the center of Helen, they offer a wide variety of German foods for any taste. They offer dining specials and kids menu. Don't forget to ask about their Bavarian pretzel that is a special item not on the menu!

Consolidated Gold Mine offers award-winning tours of a real gold mine. Your family-friendly, 40 minute underground adventure begins by descending stairs into the mine. Here, knowledgeable staff bring to life the story of the miners and their struggles to uncover gold deep within large quartz veins. Tour price includes gold panning and include a FREE Gold Panning Sample.
Consolidated also offers gem mining. Purchase a bucket (prices start at $15) of sand and search for precious stones such as garnet, emerald and amethyst.
NOTE: The mine does have three flights of stairs and two ramps and strollers are not permitted in the Mine. Tennis shoes are recommended and closed toed shoes are a must! Flip Flops are not permitted.

Located on the western shore of 71,100-acre Clarks Hill Lake, this is the perfect spot for boaters and and anglers. Elijah Clark State Park is named for a frontiersman and Georgia war hero who led pioneers during the Revolutionary War.
Campground:
Elijah Clark State Park Campground offers 165 campsites (both back-in and pull-thru) located in two loops. Most sites are spacious, shady and level with many located right on the lake where you can also tie your boat up. There are no sites offering sewer, however, all have water & electric and cable! Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Campground has a dump station, restrooms, laundry facilities, and showers. The campground is pet friendly!

There are 20 rental cottages are located on the lake's edge with two pet-friendly.

Fort Mountain State Park is a mountain getaway for hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. There are more than 25-miles of beautiful trails that wind through hardwood forest thick with blueberry thickets, scenic mountain overlooks and stream-crossings. Visitors can also take a short hike to visit the CCC-built stone fire tower (open Saturdays 1-4 pm)and an ancient rock wall built around 500 AD which is still shrouded in mystery today. During summer months, there is a lakeside beach to cool off from all that hiking.
Campground:
The campground offers 70 sites with water and electric. Reservations are make through ReserveAmerica and are not site-specific.
Cottages:
Fifteen 2-bedroom, fully-equipped cottages are available for rent with a couple that are dog-friendly. You can also reserve cottages on ReserveAmerica.
